This is an important one in dreams; and not uncommon. The neck speaks of the human will, often wilfulness,

In a dream, if the neck of a person (or yourself) appears accentuated in size, colour or clothing – this may represent wilfulness in that person. “… they (Israel and Judah) did not listen, but stiffened their neck like their fathers, who did not believe in the Lord their God.“ 2 Kings 17:14

“So, circumcise your heart, and do not stiffen your neck any longer.” Deuteronomy 10:16

When any body part is out of proportion or oddly accentuated, in Shape, colour or size, it means the Holy Spirit is drawing your attention to that part of your character. The neck is the will, the shoulder, responsibility, the leg, your walk in life.

The neck is the place that an ox’s yoke is placed to bring it into the will of the Master. But if we have been wilful in serving darkness and won’t repent: “You will serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger, thirst, nakedness, and devoid of all things; and He will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.” Deuteronomy 28:48

In other words, wilfulness disallows rest and opens us to all manner of torments.

But if one serves the Lord, rest and peace can be ours because we can live in His power- Matthew 11:29 “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest for your souls.”

Isaiah 10:27 ”So it will be on that day, that his burden will be removed from your shoulders, and his yoke from your neck; and the yoke will be broken because of fatness.”

This verse in Isaiah is spoken to Israel about the liberation through Messiah which will come on “that day”, looking forward to the cross. Even though the sin nature is being purged, they will have all sin taken away. We hear that the one who punished them – who thought to do more than God’s correction, will be removed. In Isaiah 10 we see God does not want to punish his kids to destroy them; He wants to correct them like a loving Father.

It is the fallen nature that is to be destroyed. If we see our wilfulness in a dream, we are offered Holy Spirit power to repent of it and “take His humble yoke”. We find then that wilfulness had a cost – it demands we keep up appearances and pretence to some degree or another in various contexts. Humility is very liberating because no-one – not even your “other self” can knock you down / accuse you.

The Old Testament breaking of the neck in the animals that symbolised the various aspects of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ also speak of the will and death to the old nature: Jesus prayed one of the hardest prayers, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.” Luke 22:42

NUMBERS

This segment is currently being developed. It will soon be more substantial. I give some scriptures to show the meaning of these numerals, but if you need more, I’ll supply them. Space is limited on the page.

Numbers / Numerals generally represent biblical qualities rather than actual quantities.

One

One is the Number of God. He is One. In fact, He is The One and only God. Isaiah 9:6; Hosea 13:4; Malachi 2:10; John 1:1; 10:30-38; 20:28.

One is also an indication of the unity of the bride of Christ as in Jesus’ prayer of John 17:20,21. This is a crucial understanding required of those who follow Christ. Unity is within the remnant – that is those who follow the Lamb wherever He goes; love is for all people. That they are one in Him is also prophesied in the Messianic passage of Zechariah 14:9 in which the word “eretz” speaks of the land of Israel, being a veiled reference to Jesus Christ. These veiled references were important as they had to be hidden from Satan. They were revealed to the apostles, making their hearts burn with love and joy, thus enabling the apostolic writing of the New Testament that gives us the intention of the Old Testament prophecies as Christocentric.

The number one also speaks about His supremacy / primacy – as seen in Exodus 20:3; Revelation 2:4. In His letter to the Ephesians, Jesus uses the word “first love” which, we see in relation to His teaching on priority, is about the primacy of Himself in the heart of the believer – even more important than one’s children, spouse etc.

Two

Two is the number of agreement, covenant. It is the first number capable of whole number division. As covenant, we also see it as the sacrificed animal halves before Abram in Genesis.

Two also represent witnesses. The Lord says His people are His witnesses and that is why the church is symbolised as two witnesses in Revelation

When we see fractions and percentages, we are looking at division, Although numbers represented as per cent are a little different. they relate to per one hundred and as such, draw meaning from the pure square of ten. See Ten below.

Fractions, like numbers / numerals, generally represent biblically expressed qualities rather than quantities. They speak directly of dividing asunder, differentiating this from that and parts of a whole.

Three

Three is another of God’s numbers indicating His tripartite Persn: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Likewise we humans are made in His image and have three parts; A spirit, a soul (mind, will and emotions) as well as a body of flesh.

Three indicates perfect completeness and is used throughout the Bible to indicate this when used as an integer (whole number).

One third as a fraction is also not uncommon. One third of people who are killed in Revelation Where three speaks of resurrected life, one third can speak of the inverse of God’s complete work. So in Revelation 8:7-12 we see creation symbolically deteriorate by thirds, culminating in 9:15 where humans are destroyed by one third.

The best way to find what things in your dreams represent is to go to Jesus’ words first. For example, He identifies the field / paddock in a parable when He says in Matthew 13:38, “the field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the Kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one.”

If the object isn’t in the gospels, chances are that Jesus’ words which are most of the book of Revelation will have something. Next go to the apostles letters and the Old Testament.

Then we may need to think about elements of our own culture which the Holy Spirit may use as He did in the Bible; a yellow ribbon, for example means mercy for Americans and those familiar with the song. Often this involves a play on words, just as in the original languages, but for you the Holy Spirit will play on words in your own language/s. Lastly, look at things known to your intimate circle, pet names, hobbies etc that only apply in your sub-culture.

CAGE

A cage means without liberty. Therefore, it implies one is without the Holy Spirit – or very limited – Christ may be “with you”, but the fullness of what He has for you and “in you” is “caged” or very limited.  “Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.”  2 Corinthians 3:17.

CARS

CARAVANS

Caravans appear in the Bible, but we are sometimes unaware of the size of a party travelling with camels and other livestock. A caravan in modern terms is similar to a home, but it is more temporary than a rental or owned home. It may move in the dream or behave in unusual ways, like suddenly becoming motorized. Both old and modern “caravans” speak of temporary living and moving from one stage to another. A stage coach in dreams is similar.

A caravan in biblical times can be defined as travellers who journey together for security, sometimes across harsh or desert terrain; so this has the symbolic meaning of harsh terrain in life.

If a modern caravan, attached to a car is driven by another it may mean “in company with the Lord” (if the Father or Husband figure is driving and pulling an attached van) maybe in company of ecclesial / Holy Spirit support if the driver is a mother figure (see Galatians 4:21-31 and John 14:16.

A gypsy caravan – symbolic of a worldly life – the word gypsy has Egypt as a base. Egypt symbolises the fallen nature that one should be liberated from in Christ.

CATS

Dreams about cats, or dreams with cats in them are not uncommon.

Domestic cats are not mentioned in the Bible, but lions and cubs are.

Domestic cats, however, are not lions. They are generally symbolic of independent spirit, even rebellion. This is because they don’t generally have the faithfulness of a dog, and their masters must relate to them on the cat’s terms.

We need to take the presence of a cat in dreams very seriously as they can indicate a rebellious heart. And since rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, it is a serious matter. See 1 Samuel 15:23. A black cat, therefore would indicate this.

A domestic cat one used to own could represent a return to a wilful attitude.

A vicious cat could indicate an attack and or its judgement – Daniel 6:12 to 24 -Daniel was good and innocent but put in the lion’s den because he prayed to God. But God saved him and judgment fell on the house of those who wanted him dead:  ^24 “And the king gave the command, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions—them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.” Only the context would indicate whether past, current or future warning of an attack.

Because a cat cannot be obedience trained on command like a dog, a cat may also indicate an unteachable heart – See 2 Timothy 3:7 – 9 they are “always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.”

A fat cat could speak of laziness or living carnally without reference to the Holy Spirit. See Rev 3:17.

A kitten – would be a beginning or start / young version of any of the above.

A kitten could indicate a reference to Ezekiel 19:3 – in fact, the entire chapter, where Israel is likened to a mother, lioness who brought up her cubs, i.e., succeeding generations to be vicious and devouring. But if there is a kitten in the dream, it is then good to teach whoever is being represented in the dream NOT to be wilful in any of the above ways. Lions (grown cubs /represented by kittens) can be either

Christlike (the lion of the Tribe of Judah is royal and to be imitated. Or…

Devouring – 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober-minded! Be alert! Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.”

So the dream may be encouraging teaching of / prayer for the person whose “kitten” you are “carrying”. If you are playing with it, it is a warning to stop letting them be wilful, (or yourself if you are the focus of the dream) and teach it, pray for it, bind the wilful spirit.

“What is your mother? A lioness:
She lay down among the lions;
Among the young lions she nourished her cubs.
³ She brought up one of her cubs,
And he became a young lion;
He learned to catch prey,
And he devoured men.”

CHANGE

The Christian life of growth in Jesus Christ means change. We go through periods of challenge, testing and tribulation leading to the refinement of Revelation 19:7.

The bride is someone of value to God. Money symbolises value. Monetary change often depicts this is God’s desire for the believer when presented in dreams. The actual money seen in the dreams is not the point. But the numbers are. Fifty dollars speaks of Jubilee, for example, as does 50 cents. 50 cents, if silver also speaks of Jubilee in salvation. Details on notes and coins also indicate biblical truth, such as a king’s head on it – meaning the change belongs to the King of kings. Sometimes a woman dreams of her Husband, who symbolises Jesus in many dreams and He pays for her in some significant way, such as entry to an arena or family occasion etc.

Not getting the change correct in a dream speaks of failing to understand what the Lord requires of us. In this case we ask the Holy Spirit for scriptural clarification.

Most dreams are about ourselves and also applicable to the body because when we step into change from one glory (identity in / and image of Christ) to another, we are then able to help our brothers and sisters with the speck in their eyes. Peter was told to feed others after his “turning”.

Correction can be very frustrating for the believer (imagine how Peter felt with the “Get thee behind me Satan” comment from Jesus). Nevertheless, if we humble ourselves and ask about the nature of our mistaken understanding of scripture – He will bring it to light. I always ask for more clarity, as the disciples did. Then another dream, and/ or even a scripture passage with revelation will be given. I sometimes feel quite slow to learn and yet His patience in sometimes giving me dozens of dreams all with the same point eventually breaks through my thick ears!

Yet taking correction gets easier with time and the realisation that this is “par for the course” for the bride in this age – we are making ourselves (mind, will and emotions) ready for the groom. He has given us the deposit in the spirit but the soul needs transformation – little, by little, growing more like Him through the word. We should be more concerned if we never receive correction! It would mean we are outside of His love and given over to the strong delusion of 2 Thessalonians 2:11.

CHEMIST

Chemists deal with Scripts. Usually in dreams, the dreamer goes to, or is being sent to the chemist to get a healing script. So this means we need to use Scripture, that is, the Word to defeat the illegitimate one who also probably appears in the dream. Health issues which appear in dreams may be related to the “script” needed.

A Chemist takes the written word of Dr (Jesus) and “fills” the script. That is, makes it a reality that can benefit the health of another – the one who bears the name on the script.

It may be that a person other than the dreamer is to benefit from the script. Often that person is the soul (mind, will and emotions) of the dreamer. If we first look to our own needs being pointed to in dreams, we will come to a position of healing quicker than if we keep thinking entities in dreams are other people.

CLAY

Clay also represents the human body which is destined to return to the earth; whereas one’s spirit and soul do not. Generally it refers to your flesh or fallen nature or that of another person, depending on the context of the dream. This is a strong biblical metaphor and often speaks of the Holy Spirit molding us in His hands to produce something wonderful.

References are: Job 33:6 ” Behold, I belong to God, like you; I too have been formed out of the clay.” Red dirt, clay coloured mud etc., also symbolise the old nature inherited from Adam. Adam means earth coloured /red.

A clay jar / cup – refers to something held in an earthly body – like a person who carries the Holy Spirit within themselves. A broken clay vessel means the person will be broken by the Lord to be reshaped more into His likeness from the inside. This is what Psalm 2:8 says. The “rod” of correction, by the way, is not a stick to beat, but the Shepherd’s strong staff that is powerful to break our old fallen nature so that we kiss the Son and end up blessed as in verse 12. God’s wrath brings healing because it is a father’s correction – not an enemy’s hand.

The best way to find what the Spirit is saying to you about your clay cup, perhaps of coffee (waking the person up to something). or maybe wine (drinking in the Spirit of God), is to look at the word in an online concordance like Bible Gateway or Bible Hub. As you do this, asking the Lord to show you what He means, the scriptures will often leap out at you and pierce your heart with His healing power.

While coffee isn’t a biblical word, it is part of our culture and taken to “wake us up”. Symbols common to one’s particular culture are used also both in the Bible and in our time and place.

in Jeremiah 18 that prophet didn’t have a dream about clay, but was sent on what we call an “active parable” to the potter’s house to see the potter discard the spoiled design and remake the clay to suit His purpose. Active parables and dreams (night parables) are like all biblical parables in that they have a message to help us in His way of peace, joy and love.

CLOCKS

We tend to think that clocks just symbolise time. However, in biblical dreams, it is often the position of the “hands” of the clock that are speaking to us. Take note of the position of the hands and the particular numerals indicated.

For example, 9 o’clock is not an uncommon feature in a dream because it was the ninth hour that was around the time of Jesus death (According to Matthew 27). But it also needs to be remembered that they calculated the time differently to our two lots of 12. But this way 9 it represents finality and judgment which Jesus took for us (humans). It speaks of the end of transgression.

Judgment is often seen in the negative, but the end of transgression is a good thing. Judgment on the cross was in our favour, bringing an end to sin, death and their consequences. the positive meaning of nine is seen best in Galatians 5:22 with the nine aspects of the fruit of the Spirit. Jesus was those “first fruits” of the Spirit as well.

Seven is a number peculiar to God, indicating something divine in the Spirit of the Lord. Six is the number of man, four of created things / the world etc. So the numbers indicated on a clock in a dream may be very important and you can check the biblical meanings under the letter N – Numbers.

Clocks racing or slowing down also have meaning for us. A racing clock may indicate that you are not mindful of the time God has given you, i.e., indicating backsliding. The Lord may be going to bring things into your life to draw you back to Himself at this time and a racing clock can show that need. If it slows down when you watch the clock, it usually indicates that you will be or are having a period of being mindful of your “days” or “time on earth” and becoming more responsible to the Lord. psalm 90:12, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” If the clock speeds up and is interspersed with periods of slowing to normal, and repeats this, it means there will be a number of times where the Lord deals with you, drawing you into line with His image and behaviour more and more. It is a good dream, but requires your response to the way / people He brings into your life to do this.

If we are shown a specific time in a dream, we know the position of the “hands” may be indicating the biblical meaning of the numerals. Midnight also has meaning as the darkest part of what is being shown in the dream.

Depending on the context of the dream, clocks can also be about watching and waiting for the Lord in prayer. A clock can symbolise an appointment set by God; or “when a certain time has / will have fully come” (Galatians 4:4).Or in the case of an alarm clock, a warning; or in the case of an early hour, a wake up call. Meanings are dependent on context and often the same theme, be it judgment, liberty, or whatever, will also feature more than once in a dream to give confirmation. The theme often appears in the name of a person (because persons don’t often symbolize themselves in dreams).

COLOURS

Colours in dreams carry significant biblical meaning. Depending on the context of the dream, they can symbolise positive or negative meaning. Black and white appearing together, especially on a dog implies mixture or syncretism – the person represented by the dog (Gentile or unbeliever) has both Holy and carnal practices. It is generally shown to bring correction even if the dog appears friendly. I couldn’t resist putting Molly in as a black and white dog.

Fluorescent colours are used in dreams to hi-light what the Lord is showing us. Often in dreams a focus is set on an object as if we are to pay special attention to it. It is as if the camera hovers over something of significance for us.

Besides the basic colours, there are many blends or hues which appear in biblical dreams and therefore, I will add to this page as time goes on. For now, I think colour is such a common dream feature that we should have it in the dictionary to begin with.

I will present the colour symbols in a dual chart to make things easier:

Dreams are Spiritual Messages – But who is listening?

Is this Fantasy, Heresy or Really Divine Communication?

Who would have thought of the possibility of a divine origin of common human dreams? Once upon a time I would have thought the idea a bit far-fetched myself.  Church leaders tell me it is certainly not a general or key way God speaks to His children.

Or is it?

Here, I will endeavour to explain what the Lord has lain on my heart and mind regarding biblical dreams. And elsewhere I will write under other tabs, the things I have been shown in biblical dreams from the Word of God – because the two should link up.

What I write concerns the dreams of most people. We are meant to dream. We are created to hear God’s voice, personally and directly. Of course there are other ways for us to hear from God, but this topic is about hearing through dreams. So, I am not just addressing Christians. In fact, in dialogues with others, I find non-Christians are often more open to real spiritual truth than those who attend institutional churches.

It may be that you may think of Divinity as being the universe or some other “force/s” – or an impersonal force. Yet, I believe those assumptions are due to a lack of understanding of the true kindness, mercy and justice of our loving and very personal, Father God. I have discovered that He has been much maligned – even by me in the past. I believe that mis-renderings of original language in the Bible have been used in a political way against humanity over the last two millennia; and it is time to see our Heavenly Father with clearer eyes.

To this end, I have been the recipient of some seven or so thousand dreams over the last seven years, each one drawing me more and more into the Father’s care, into His healing power and strength. And for every night of seven years of dreaming, there has been a number of hours per day of study of what the Lord has been saying. This has been serious stuff, indeed, and I don’t bring this message lightly. It has cost me three major 180 degree turns in theology.

We learn the purpose of dreams from a guy called Elihu in the Bible. A godly man called Joh was tested by God with all manner of ills. Elihu comes upon Job after three other “threeso-called “friends” have accused Job of personal sin. Elihu seeks to truly comfort Job, but doesn’t avoid pointing out that Job has also accused God. He brings a kind of preparatory speech, magnifying the greatness of God so that when the Lord does finally respond, Job and we, the readers, are prepared for the divine response about suffering. Paul, the great healer of humans and teacher of love also knew the reason for suffering – to keep one from pride. It is no light matter. Pride is a dreadful sin. It is so destructive to families, to truth, to functionality in a community. No wonder God says that He resists the proud and promises them a “fall”.[1]

Elihu explains also, incidentally, the purpose of human dreams. They are to keep us from pride. This, I have found to be so true. When I first had biblical dreams, I was still wallowing in a certain academic pride. It took thousands of biblical corrective dreams, their recording and scriptural follow-up to convince me that pride is a pathetic dirty blanket full of holes one tries to cover one’s inadequacies with. And I recognise that now. The worst thing about human pride is when we don’t even know we have it. And the truth is, I am not overly clever. Often, we humans have pride in something that isn’t even valid!

Do You Have Weird Dreams?

Probably the most common description I hear about dreams goes something like this, ‘ I had a really weird dream last night!’ Dreams do appear to be weird  when we wake up, because they are what we call ‘parabolic’ – they are often night parables. This just means they are divine messages related to us, largely, in symbols. And what this website is about is teaching the meanings of the symbols in dreams. And the things symbolised are more important than a lot of the needless running around we do daily to no avail. They are symbols that can bring healing when we understand them in the context of our lives.

Some of the more common dreams experienced by people include the following:

A dream about your house is generally about yourself and either the way you are building your life or what is happening in / to your life. It is the symbol from Matthew 7:24. Some dreams will depict moving house’ some house painting; some house cleaning; some with no windows, or a broken door. Then there are those where the dreamer smashes parts of his / her own house. When this happens and a person is shown smashing their own windows or glasses, it is about a refusal to see / admit truth.

Dreams about home also speak about the Lord’s desire and purpose, which is to reside with us each, personally.

Another common dream is about losing one’s wallet or purse. When this happens, take note of details. Is the wallet the one you use in waking life? Are the cards missing? How do you feel if you look in the wallet and see something missing? Do you panic? Look for the missing item? There are two basic items we currently carry in wallets and purses. These are our identity cards and also our cash or bank card. The identity items speak about who we are – are we fallen and headed for trouble, or are we in Christ and at peace? A loss of card and panic speak of a loss of peace at a spiritual level, even if things seem OK in your waking life. We are designed to have our identity in Jesus. If we are not in Him, we are in that spiritual state that we feel emotionally when a wallet / cards are stolen. That would be the message of that dream.

If you are a believer and have had that dream, and it isn’t uncommon for believers to have it, then it is best to ask the Lord, “Where am I missing it?” and He will surely show you by some means where you are walking away from His loving power back into the weakness of the old Adam.

Money speaks of the favour we experience when we are walking close to the Lord. Take note of the notes or coins you see in the dream. Ten dollars speak of God’s perfect order and plan for us. Fifties speak of Jubilee which means getting back all that the devil has stolen from you. It means coming home to our own land with Him in a celebration and rest.

Because numbers are a very common feature in dreams, they deserve their own post; which I will also do. Generally they are not so much quantities in dreams but qualities which we can see from the paragraph above.
